Having lived in Lima for many years and frequenting the best pollo a la brasa that Lima has to offer, Pollo Aa Brasa - Gardena rivals anything that Lima has to offer. They do it a la leña and if you've yet to try it you are seriously missing out. There fries (papas fritas) are also made fresh and as good as the chicken. Pair it with a tall chicha morada and you'll be transported instantly to Peru's finest pollerÃas.

I came to this restaurant to show my supervisor a HOLE IN THE WALL restaurant that can't go unnoticed. We were luckily able to find a limited parking space in the storefront.
Upon exiting the vehicle, the smell of campfire smoke from the rotisserie pit is noticeable. A large pile of firewood is stacked on the side of the restaurant.
My supervisor was intrigued by the view of the chickens rotating above the spitfire. We ordered a QUARTER DARK MEAT COMBO with two sides and a fountain drink. I selected Cole Slaw and Rice, and my drink of choice was Peruvian INKA KOLA, which tastes like a blend of Coke and Mountain Dew. The chicken is delicious and has a distinct smoky flavor.
The seating and tables are limited, but the walls are adorned with inspirational drawings of Peruvian civilization in this unpretentious mom-and-pop store. It's an excellent spot for AFFORDABLE EATS in Gardena.Helpful 5Thanks 2Love this 7Oh no 0Jul 5, 2019Previous reviewSame restaurant, same taste, but different location.
I was craving for some bomb Peruvian rotisserie chicken, and I was not willing to travel to Los Angeles to get my chicken fix. Little did I know that Pollo Ala Brasa had a second location in Gardena. Thanks to Yelp, I tracked down the place, and as I was near, I could smell the smoky fragrance from their chimney.
The location is near a railroad track, and parking is available at the front and in the rear. The property is in a triangular lot, so weaving this area with your vehicle can be tricky. If the lot looks full, there is a larger parking space (owned by the market) behind the track. There are signs everywhere that say it is strictly for market customers, so be careful when crossing the path to the restaurant.
Just like the original location, the chicken is so juicy and tasty. As for the selection of sides, I always go with a salad and something else.
I did run into one issue with the order. I asked for rice as one of the sides, but I wanted was their fried rice. I received a bowl full of white rice! I feel that it was my fault for not being clear.
Also, extra Aji Sauce is not free. They charge $1.00 for three (3) small containers. If you ask them nicely, sometimes they slip one without charge. :) - Jun 19, 2023
Some of the best & tastiest Peruvian Rotisserie chimkin in LA.
Sides are good, and the Aji Verde sauce pretty much taste like magic.
Ask of pay for extra green sauce, I use mine generously.
Service is always quick since chicken is made through out the day. Expect a line if you are going during lunch-rush or dinner.
Place is small, but you get the bonus points of smelling the chicken form like a block away haha
Area is sketchy, kinda hood so it is what it is.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Monty Z.Hawthorne, CA26Mar 31, 2024

The chicken has such a great taste, it's cooked to perfection! The rice is a bit bland, but the chicken and sauce makes up for it. We went all in and got arroz con leche, it was delicious not too sweet so we really enjoyed it. The service / staff were welcoming and took their time to make sure they included extra utensils as we had ask.

Pollo Ala Brasa ) is a dive that serves up some of the best wood burning Peruvian rotisserie chicken I have eaten. The wood they use for their rotisserie is piled up outside the restaurant and appears to be locally sourced.
We were lucky to sit at one of their 6 tables. You order at the order and pick up your food at the counter. We ordered 1/2 chicken( their Aji Verde sauce comes with each order) coleslaw and fries. When we got our order, I was looking at the crispy golden chicken with the juice dripping and the smell was so succulent- I didn't take a picture I just went face down, it was so so flavorful, juicy, tender. I dipped my fries and the Aji Verde sauce, the Peruvian chicken needed - NOTHING!!Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 1 - Kev F.Long Beach, CA14310Nov 4, 2023
This place really is like a hole in the wall with delicious chicken. I've been here a few times and always have taken my food to go, there is not much room inside. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly, parking can be a problem though. The salsa they give is also delicious but it has a strong kick to it, not for people that can't handle the spice. I would recommend the chicken, fries and the beans. Normally I would get the rice but to be honest it's just plain white rice, you are better off getting the fries. Definitely worth checking out

Absolutely amazing!
Ordered lunch for our team - their pick and this place was absolute fire. Known for their whole chickens and chicken skewers, lots of goodness on the menu. Their salsa(verde) sauce is great on everything as well- it brings the heat.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
