As a child of the 80s, I have horrible memories of what hair gel used to be like - crunchy and messy and sticky. As a result, I have been a little scared to use them but a friend recommended this for use when you want a slicked back ponytail. It is such an improvement on gels of the past although it took me a few attempts to discover the right amount to use (too much and your hair looks the wrong kind of slick and wet). It holds hair in place but doesn't feel heavy or sticky.

I love this product. I bought this ages ago and wasn’t a fan so left it sitting around but recently I was on the Bumble and Bumble website scrolling through and I saw either a description or review say to use this on “very nearly dry” hair and it works so much better for me this way. I swipe my finger across the top and get maybe a rice grains amount then rub it in my palm so it’s a very thin layer then scrunch through my curl hair focusing on the parts that need a bit more hold. It keeps my hair looking good all week until my next wash (once a week, sometimes less). Not sure about shine but the oils in this makes my hair look and feel less dry, also by using it just before my hair is dry the pomade doesn’t dry hard or crunchy which is ideal. You only need to use the tiniest bit to get lots of hold so really good value for money. Will definitely repurchase but won’t be for a while!

I like to wear my hair in a tight pony when it starts to get too hot for it to be worn down in the super. I strive for the immaculate pony look that you might see the Kardashian’s wear and this product is superb for that. No flyaway and super easy to apply. I love the cool color too although that doesn’t really matter much haha!

I discovered this product at least 7-8 years ago, and I haven't looked back. Actually not even sure what I used before. Every other product I've even used was too greasy, had too much or too little hold, wasn't flexible when you needed it to be, or smelled like a chemical factory. Sometimes all of the above. I started using Sumo wax first, and it was nearly perfect. But Semi Sumo turned out to be just right, was a little easier to use, and the smell is great for daily use. Just like brushing my teeth, I can't walk out the door feeling complete until I've worked done Semi Sumo into my 'do!
