Tinnitus is the hearing of sound when no external sound is present. Tinnitus is not a disease, but a condition that can wreak havoc on a person's life because of the fear and anxiety that so often accompanies this strange condition. There is no cure for tinnitus but there is something just as good as a cure and it is called habituation. Habituation is a natural process that occurs in the brain that eases the distress of having this sound as a constant companion.
